Whilst speculation continues as to whether the sale of Tumblr to Yahoo! at ten times revenue was justifiable, I’m delighted to witness a public victory for plain english.
Marissa Mayer is undoubtedly a stratospherically intelligent woman and rich beyond measure – which is perhaps why she hasn’t felt the need to embrace the kind of self-aggrandising jargon (‘scaleable platforms’, ‘synergies’, ‘pivots’) that normally litters press releases like this.
Besides – isn’t most business as simple (and as difficult) as ’not screwing it up’?
